Traveling to Rotterdam

The Netherlands has several airports, Schiphol, Amsterdam is the largest one. Intercontinental flights fly to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport only, within Europe you can also fly to Rotterdam-the Hague airport or Eindhoven Airport.

From Amsterdam Airport

The best way to travel from Schiphol to Rotterdam is by train. Take the Intercity (51 minutes) or Intercity Direct (26 minutes) train directly from Schiphol Airport to Rotterdam Centraal Station. Tickets can be bought from the machines at the airport (card/coins only) or online (www.ns.nl) ahead of time, and cost €14.50 (for regular train) or €17.50 (for Intercity Direct), both one way.

From Rotterdam Centraal Station, take tram 21 or 24 to tram stop “Oude Plantage”, or tram 7 to tram stop “Erasmus Universiteit”. It’s a 10-minute walk to the hotel from both stops. You can buy a two-hour public transport ticket from the machines at the station (€4,50).

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Centraal Station to the hotel. Travel time is about 15 minutes, there is a taxi rank at the station. Costs should be around €30. Otherwise you can take a taxi from Schiphol airport to the hotel, which takes about 50 minutes and will cost around €160 (for a minivan, 6 persons) when reserved ahead of time through taxi2airport There is also a regular taxi rank at the airport.

From Rotterdam-the Hague airport

Take bus 33 to metrostation Meijersplein, then metroline E to metrostation Beurs. There switch to metroline C, to metrostation Kralingse Zoom. From there it is a 10 minute walk to the hotel. Travel time is 50-60 minutes. One way tickets can be bought from the bus driver for €4,50 (allows two hour of travel on bus, tram and metro).

Alternatively you can take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, which takes about 20 minutes and will cost around €90 (for a minivan, 6 persons) when reserved ahead of time through airportsineurope.taxitender.com. There is also a regular taxi rank at the airport.

From Eindhoven Airport

Take bus 400 or 401 to Eindhoven train station. Travel time is 20 minutes, a single ticket can be bought from the bus driver (€4.95). From Eindhoven take the train directly to Rotterdam Centraal Station, travel time is one hour. Tickets can be bought from the machines at the airport (card/coins only) or online (www.ns.nl) ahead of time, and cost €21,10 (one way).

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Centraal Station to the hotel. Travel time is about 15 minutes, there is a taxi rank at the station. Costs should be about €30. Otherwise you can take a taxi from Eindhoven airport to the hotel, which takes about 1.15 hours and will cost around €300 (for a minivan, 6 persons) when reserved ahead of time through Taxi2airport. By Car

From Utrecht/The Hague

Take the A20 toward Rotterdam, then the A16 to Dordrecht. Follow signs for Capelle a/d IJssel/Rotterdam Centrum. Take exit 25 Capelle a/d IJssel/Centrum and follow signs for Centrum. Take the Brainpark exit. The hotel Novotel is on the right.

From Dordrecht/Breda

Take the A16 toward Rotterdam and follow signs for Capelle a/d IJssel/Rotterdam Centrum. Take exit 25 Capelle a/d IJssel/Rotterdam Centrum and follow signs for Centrum. Take the Brainpark exit. The hotel Novotel is on the right.

Parking at Novotel

Parking in major cities in the Netherlands can be challenging due to the lack of available parking space. Metered parking areas are marked with a blue ‘P-Zone’ sign, and parking tickets from meter machines can cost between €2.80 and €7.50 per hour depending on the city or municipality. You can pay for parking using a bank card, cash, or a mobile app.

Parking is also available at the hotel Novotel. This parking space is open 24/7 with a daily rate of €10,- For the car park, you can reserve a spot via the Novotel.

 

By Train

Rotterdam’s main train station is Rotterdam Central Station. You can take a train directly to Rotterdam from Brussels/Antwerp, Paris and London. For services from Germany, you usually have to change at Amersfoort Station.

From Rotterdam Centraal Station, take tram 21 or 24 to tram stop “Oude Plantage”, or tram 7 to tram stop “Erasmus Universiteit”. It’s a 10 minute walk to the hotel from both stops.

Public Transport & travel (OV) chipcard

For all activities you’d like to undertake in Rotterdam, we recommend using the city’s well-organised public transport.

To use public transport within the city (tram, bus, metro) you need to buy a ticket. Metro stations have ticket machines, on the tram and bus you can buy a ticket as you board, on board is only possible with debit or credit card.

A two hour ticket you pay €4.50. You can also buy a Tourist Day ticket (€9.50).
